New updates & improvements keep coming.
Contractor Foreman Just Keeps Getting Better!
Quarter 1 - 2026
Release Date: April 10, 2026
🌱 Spring into What’s New 🌱
Spring is here, and so is a fresh crop of updates! This quarter we pushed over 90 changes to the platform, and we’re excited to walk you through the most noteworthy improvements below. From brand-new features to polished UI refreshes, there’s something for everyone. So grab your coffee, and let’s dig in!
🏗️ UI & Codebase Updates
Before we jump into new features, let’s talk about the work happening under the hood. Think of it like sistering new joists alongside the old ones in a structure—from the outside, things might look different, but underneath, the framework is significantly stronger, more stable, and ready to carry more load (and we may have built in some new perks along the way). These UI and codebase updates aren’t just about a fresh coat of paint. They’re foundational improvements that make the platform more reliable, allow our team to deliver maintenance and future updates more efficiently, and set the stage for the exciting features you’ll read about further down.
Settings: A brand-new navigation experience
The most significant UI update this quarter is the redesigned Settings experience. A new navigation pane replaces the old card‑style layout, making Settings much easier to explore and manage. You can now move quickly between pages while making changes—no more hunting through tiles. Several system settings pages have already been upgraded, and you’ll immediately recognize which ones are new. Pages still running on older code will continue to appear within the new menu using the familiar edit‑pencil styling, and will be progressively updated as improvements are completed.
Document Writer: A faster, cleaner way to create and manage your documents
We’ve refreshed the document-writing experience with a brand-new look that makes it easier to create, review, and manage your documents and templates. Everything is clearer and more intuitive, so you can find what you need faster, stay organized, and feel more confident as you work.
More ready-made Document Writer templates, ready to use
This update comes with an additional perk: you’ll now find new stock templates pre-loaded in Document Writer, including much-requested Release of Lien options. These templates come ready to use, helping you generate consistent paperwork more quickly right from your account with less manual setup.
Bid Manager: A refreshed bidding experience
The Bidding module has had its dashboard and the module-accessible bidding pop-up updated with a cleaner, more modern design, rebuilt from our older PHP-based screens to React. There have been no significant workflow changes—your core process stays the same—but the updated experience should feel smoother and easier to navigate day to day.
Additional pages refreshed
Many auxiliary pages have also received their UI and code updates this quarter, including the Enable/Disable Features page, Transaction Logs, Pay Online, and several Account Management pages. Each one now aligns with the newer, cleaner design across the app for a more consistent and easier-to-navigate experience, while keeping the same familiar workflows you’re used to.
🔥Features We’re Most Excited About
These are the headliners this quarter—the features we think you’ll notice and love the most.
Offline Time Cards (Preview Mode)
One of the most highly requested features is here! Offline Time Cards will be rolling out in preview mode, plan by plan, over the next week. Users across all plan levels will have early access to try out this feature. We’re actively looking for feedback as we refine the experience, so if you’re working at low- or no-service job sites, this one’s for you. Offline Time Cards will be available to select plans in the future—try it out and let us know what you think!
Set a default template so new Estimates start ready to go
You can now choose a template to automatically apply to every new Estimate you create, so you don’t have to import the same template and re-select the same details each time. Just pick your preferred template once, choose what you want it to include, and your future Estimates will start pre-filled with the structure you use most, saving time and reducing repetitive setup.
More control over what’s included in your Estimate package by default
In Settings, you can now choose how you want your cover sheet and document batches to behave by default. Decide what is automatically included when you create a new Estimate, or only added when you decide to include them. This makes it easier to match your preferred workflow, reduce extra clicks, and avoid surprises when preparing an Estimate to send to a client.
A completely revamped Add Items experience in Estimates
Adding items to your Estimates just got a major upgrade. You can now open a single “Add Items” pop-up, choose where you want to pull items from, select multiple items in one go, and review everything you’ve chosen before adding it—so you can build out your list more quickly and with fewer clicks. Search and select across one or more searches, review everything in a “Currently Selected” panel, and import them all in a single step. Plus, a new “Clear All” function lets you quickly remove all selected items with one click when you need to start over. No more repeating the search-and-import process over and over.
Fix cost codes right from your Weekly Sheet
You can now quickly correct an incorrect cost code directly while reviewing time in your Weekly Sheet (as long as the cost code column is turned on). This makes it much easier to clean up mistakes without having to delete and re-enter time, so you can finalize your week faster and with more confidence.
Switch between multiple accounts without logging out
You can now connect multiple Contractor Foreman accounts and move between them right from your profile menu. Once your accounts are connected, switching is quick and easy, and you can disconnect an account any time if you no longer want it available. This makes it much simpler to manage multiple companies without the constant hassle of signing out and back in.
🌍Global Changes
Send notifications from the right person automatically
You can now set up your Notifications so they come from the right role on a job, like your Project Manager or Site Manager, instead of always coming from the person who created the record or a default sender. This makes emails and alerts feel more professional and keeps replies going to the right place, plus you can include the right key people automatically based on the job so the right team members stay in the loop without extra manual work.
Pick up right where you left off; continuation of back button improvements
Jumping into a record from a list is now much smoother in many modules. When you hit the in-app Back button, you will return to the same spot in your list (with your filters and sorting still in place), so you can keep working through items without losing your place or starting over. More modules to come next update!
A smoother in-app camera and photo markup experience (Coming next week with the app update!)
We’ve improved the in-app camera so it’s easier to capture photos with your phone’s native camera tools, review them, and make quick edits before saving. The updated flow makes managing photos in a capture session clearer, gives you faster access to photo actions, and lets you add markups and notes while you’re already working, so your photo documentation is more complete without extra steps. This update will be available with the upcoming app update next week.
Resize columns in your Dashboard lists for a clearer view
You can now resize columns in Dashboard list views, making it much easier to read longer values at a glance. Just hover between two column headers and drag to adjust the width so your Dashboard tables fit the way you work, especially when names or statuses feel cut off.
Required fields are now more obvious to users
The platform now automatically directs users to any mandatory fields left incomplete when clicking the ‘Save’ button. This enhancement ensures users are immediately guided to required fields, improving form completion and reducing errors. The auto-scroll and alert functionality is consistent across modules like Change Orders, Email, Issue Submission, Task Creation, and File Editing.
See file sizes before you upload
Now when you choose files to upload in the web app, each selected file shows its size right under the file name before you click Upload or Attach. That makes it much easier to stay within upload limits, avoid failed uploads, and confidently pick the right files the first time.
Upgrading is easier when you need it
When you click Upgrade on a feature that isn’t available on your current plan, you’ll now see a simple in-app popup that lets you compare higher plan options and start changing your plan right away. No more guessing what to do next or getting stuck—you can move forward and unlock what you need in just a few clicks.
Reset your password with ease
If you click “Forgot password” and open the reset link, it will now take you to the password reset screen, even if you were already signed in on that browser. This makes it faster and easier to regain access to your account, with a smoother reset experience from start to finish.
Less Scrolling When Entering Item Details
We’ve made the item details view more compact, so you can enter and review pricing faster with less scrolling. The pricing section now takes up less space while keeping everything you need in the same familiar flow, making it quicker and cleaner to work through longer items.
📐Estimates
Enhanced Associated Project Notification
The helpful Associated Project pop-up will continue to tell you if you have projects available in connection with a selected customer, but it is now easier to choose to skip it, create a new Opportunity on the spot, or decide to link a Project later, so you can keep moving without getting stuck.
See who created each Estimate at a glance
You can now see who prepared an Estimate directly in your Estimates’ Dashboard list, without opening each one. A new column shows the estimator as an avatar or initials, making it faster to review work, confirm ownership, and keep your estimating process moving smoothly.
See line item totals in your Estimate CSV exports
Exporting Estimate items to CSV just got easier. Your exported file will now include a Total for each line item that matches what you see on screen, so you can quickly review, share, and work with accurate totals in spreadsheets without doing extra math.
Add item variations while you build your Estimate
When you manually add an item in the web app, you can now include a single variation right away, so your line items are clearer and you spend less time reworking details later. After you save, you can also see when the saved item was last updated in your item library and quickly open the linked item record for faster edits and review.
Clearer location selection when importing items from 1Build
We’ve cleaned up the location experience during item imports so it’s easier to understand where pricing is coming from. You’ll now see the location shown in one clear place (no more duplicate lines), and when you’re working on an Estimate with a Project selected, you’ll get a helpful prompt if the pricing location doesn’t match, with a quick way to update it. Plus, once you update the location for an Estimate, it will stay saved when you come back later, so you don’t have to re-enter it each time.
📋Change Orders
Generate Change Orders in a Flash!
If you already have an approved Estimate on a project and need to capture a change, you can now create a Change Order directly from an existing Estimate instead of rebuilding it by hand, or having to navigate out of the Estimate. This makes it much faster to document scope and price changes, and it also helps when an Estimate was created on the wrong project or at the wrong stage, since you can convert it into a Change Order and keep the details and formatting you already put together.
Update markup right from your Change Order items
You can now edit your markup percentage directly while reviewing items in the list view of a Change Order, without jumping between view screens. This makes it faster and easier to fine-tune pricing as you build and update Change Orders, so you can keep your numbers accurate and move approvals along with less back-and-forth.
Add Change Orders Directly from the Main Menu
We’ve improved the Main Menu by bringing back the “+” button for Change Orders. Now, when you highlight Change Orders in the menu, the “+” button appears, allowing you to quickly add a new Change Order. Selecting this button will default to the Change Order option for faster workflow.
Cost updating now available in new modules!
Users can now update item unit costs directly from the Cost Item Database (CIDB) within the Items tab of Change Orders, Work Orders, and Service Tickets. This ensures that item costs are always in sync with the latest standard pricing, improving accuracy and reducing manual data entry.
🤝Subcontracts & Approvals
Submit for Approvals faster, from anywhere you’re working
Submitting an item for Approval is now quicker and easier to find. You can start the “Submit for Approval” flow via an orange action button from more places in the app. It will still be available in the actions menu on a record, but you will also find new orange action buttons in the left-side navigation, so you spend less time hunting for the option and more time moving work forward.
🕵️Inspections
Finish Inspection checklists faster with new quick actions
You can now manage Inspection checklist items more easily with a new quick-actions menu on each item, making it simple to copy or remove an item, or notify the assigned person when needed. Plus, when everything looks good, you can save time by marking all checklist items complete at once with a new “Complete All” option, so you can wrap up an Inspection in a single click instead of checking items one by one.
🛠️Service Tickets
Find Service Tickets faster on the map
You can now search directly on the map to quickly pull up the Service Ticket you need by typing more generalized information. This makes it much easier to jump to a specific job without scrolling and hunting through pins, especially when you have a lot of tickets in your account.
See and update markup percentage right in your Service Ticket items
You can now view the markup percentage for each item directly in your Service Ticket’s items list, making it faster to review pricing while you work. When markup is set as a percentage, you can also adjust it inline without opening the item, so quick pricing tweaks take fewer clicks and stay in sync with the item details.
🧮Cost Item Database
Sort CIDB Items by Cost Code
The Cost Item Database (CIDB) module now supports sorting by the “Cost Code” column across all item types (Material, Labor, Equipment, Subcontract, Others). This enhancement allows users to quickly organize and locate items by their cost codes, improving efficiency and data management.
📇Directory & Contacts
Export your Contacts to CSV in seconds
You can now download the exact list of Contacts you’re viewing as a CSV file, ready to open in Excel or Google Sheets. Just select a contact type, then click Export to instantly save that same on-screen list for sharing, reporting, or offline work.
Favorite items right from your Directory (and filter them faster)
You can now filter to see your favorites more easily, and favorite or unfavorite items directly from the list without opening each one. This makes it quicker to keep your go-to items starred and easy to find, with more consistent behavior so what you see in the list matches what you’ll see when you open the item.
Adding and spotting attachments is now clearer and faster
We improved how attachments show up in your lists so it’s easier to tell what you can do at a glance. When a row has no files yet, you’ll see a simple “+” appear as you hover, making it quick to add an attachment. Once files are attached, a paperclip icon appears so you instantly know that row already has attachments, with a helpful tooltip to guide you.
🔗QuickBooks Online (and Future Xero Integration)
Import Contacts from QuickBooks anytime, right from your Contacts page
If you’ve connected QuickBooks (or later Xero), you can now import your Contacts whenever you need to, even if you skipped that step during setup. Just click the new “Import Contacts” button and choose what you want to bring in (like customers or vendors), and you are on your way to getting your contact list filled out faster and with less manual work.
Sync your transactions to QuickBooks right from the record
You can now send a transaction to your connected accounting software without leaving the transaction screen. When a transaction is ready to sync, you will see a “Sync to QuickBooks” (or later “Sync to Xero”) option in the footer of your records, so you can push it over in just a click and keep your workflow moving.
More control over what older QuickBooks edits sync into Contractor Foreman
You can now choose a cutoff date so that very old QuickBooks transactions do not suddenly sync into Contractor Foreman just because they were edited later in QuickBooks. This helps prevent unexpected older items from showing up and keeps your books and job costs cleaner, with the flexibility to adjust the cutoff date anytime if you need to.
🦺Incidents
Create the right item faster with a clearer “+ New” menu
Creating a new record just got easier. When you click + New, you’ll now be asked what you want to create up front, so you can choose the right option immediately (like an Incident or an Employee Write-Up) and avoid starting the wrong one by mistake. This helps you move faster and keeps your workflow smooth.
🔮Coming Soon: Xero Integration
Our QuickBooks and Xero experts are hard at work testing the new Xero integration to make sure it is ready to roll out to customers. We know this has been one of the most anticipated features on the roadmap, and we’re committed to getting it right. The integration will be available once we are confident it is stable and ready for release. We hope to have additional news about this feature soon—stay tuned!

🎨UI Updates
In our continued effort to be out with the old, and in with the new; we have made further progress with our UI and Codebase updates. The following modules have been updated and should see increased stability and performance going forward
Forms and Checklists: Managing forms and related records is now clearer and more efficient, thanks to several targeted usability enhancements. Page verbiage has been updated to accurately distinguish between Forms and Templates, reducing confusion and improving consistency throughout the experience. A new Files tab has also been added to records, automatically consolidating all files uploaded through a form into one centralized location. In addition, status interactions have been refined to be more intuitive, helping users better track progress and manage records with fewer friction points.
Crew Schedule: Creating and managing crew schedules is now more efficient with improved organization, layout updates, and label corrections. While no major functional changes were introduced, the underlying code updates resulted in a cleaner, more structured view that better groups schedules by user type—such as contractors, employees, or crew members. This enhancement reduces visual clutter and makes it easier for users to create, review, and manage schedules with greater clarity and speed.
Client Portal: the Client Portal is now more streamlined following UI and code updates that align it with our core design. Users may notice a refreshed look and improved consistency across the platform, resulting in a cleaner interface and a more cohesive experience when navigating and managing client information.
🤝Improvements Meant to Help us, Help You
New Customer Success Portal: Account owners now have exclusive access to our brand-new Customer Success Center! This is an incredible feature, especially for our new Contractors who are just starting out on their journey with minimal online presence.
Submit and Issue Improvement: Users who need to submit an issue will now be prompted through an improved workflow. Since many issues are resolved by simply clearing the application’s cache, users will now be prompted to do this before starting a chat for immediate resolution of most basic issues.
Nice-List Features
Are you ready for the meat and potatoes of this update? Yeah? We thought so! Check out these enhancements and features specially picked to make your season bright…
🌍Global Changes
Back Button Improvements: Have been rolled out to select modules; with more to come in future updates. when accessing a record from the list view in a module’s dashboard, the user will now be conveniently taken back to the exact place in the list where they left off when they use the in-app back button. Their selection will appear prominently at the top of the list and will be highlighted once the user returns to the list view.
New User Email Update: New user notifications have been updated to ensure that your users are fully aware of who their invite came from, so it will not be mistaken for spam. Now, when a user receives an invitation, they will be clearly informed about who sent them the invite and from which company it originated. This added detail ensures that their invitation does not get mistaken for spam, providing clarity and confidence in the communication.
Descriptions Indented in PDF Templates: The descriptions in templates have been significantly improved in the latest update. To help users better distinguish the description text from the item, we have indented the text for enhanced clarity for both you and your customers.
📐 Estimates
New Bulk Action Toolbar: The Estimate module just received a serious power up. You can now update multiple estimate line items at once using the enhanced Bulk Action Toolbar. When you select more than one item, a focused editing panel appears, giving you quick access to the fields you adjust most often. Here’s what’s new:
- Bulk editing is now available exclusively in the Estimate module, with support for editing Item Name, Cost Code, Quantity, Unit Cost, Unit, and Assignee.
- A streamlined field selector lets you choose which detail to modify before applying your update.
- Changes apply instantly across all selected estimate items, delivering consistent, accurate updates with minimal effort.
- This upgrade cuts out repetitive line-by-line edits, helping you build and refine estimates faster than ever.
This is just the first step. Bulk editing will expand to additional modules in future updates, Estimates gets the VIP treatment today.
Create Bid Package from Bulk Action Toolbar: With just a few clicks, you can quickly add items to a bid package, making the process incredibly efficient and straightforward. Simply multi-select the items you want to create a package for, and in a snap, you can have them loaded into a package that is ready to go! This feature streamlines your workflow and enhances productivity, ensuring that you can manage your tasks with ease and efficiency.
Allow Manual Entry of Bids: Here is the feature you have been eagerly anticipating! Estimators now have the capability to enter bid submission details on behalf of their bidders after a bid package has been sent out! And guess what? This fantastic feature comes equipped with comprehensive history and tracking functionalities, allowing you to effortlessly see who made a change and exactly when it was made. If a mistake happens to occur; not a problem at all. The embedded timeline will enable you to see what specific dollar amounts were changed, providing you with the ability to correct mistakes and hold yourself and other team members accountable.
Sections within Bid Packages: Bid packages can now be more organized than ever before! If you have items that are meticulously organized by sections within your estimate, they will now seamlessly import into your bid package while maintaining the exact same structure. This means that the organization you have already put in place will be preserved, making it easier to manage and review. Although you cannot transfer an item between different sections, you do have the flexibility to re-organize items within each section.
Cover Sheet from an Image: Looking to create a more polished and professional coversheet? It’s now incredibly easy to add a coversheet that you’ve created in another app, such as Canva, to your estimate. Users are provided with two convenient options: they can either create a default coversheet within their templates and upload an image to serve as the coversheet, or they can generate a brand new coversheet directly from an image on the spot while working on an Estimate!
Send Approval Reminder: For newly sent estimates, users now have the convenient ability to easily send their customers reminder emails, which serve as a gentle prompt for them to accept and sign an estimate. As long as an email has been sent initially, the user will now see a “Send Reminder” button available on the Review and Submit page. Clicking this button will re-send the original email, prefixed with “Reminder,” to the customer. This feature is designed to help nudge them towards giving their approval.
Kanban Block Update: The Estimates Kanban view has been enhanced to display important information directly on Kanban cards and column headers. This includes showing total dollar amounts in each column, and on each card displaying the project name, estimate value, and due date with color-coded status indicators. Tooltips, cleaner formatting, and hidden empty fields improve readability and allow users to quickly understand the estimate status without opening records.
Description Inline Editing: The Estimate module just got even smoother. You can now edit section names and descriptions directly where they appear: no extra clicks, no pop-ups, no detours. This upgrade keeps you in flow while organizing and refining your estimates
New Filters: Navigating your Estimates just became easier and far more precise. The Estimates Filter panel has been expanded and refined to give you clearer control over how you search, sort, and review your estimate list. These improvements make it simple to zero in on exactly what you’re looking for without unnecessary scrolling. Here’s what’s new:
- You can now filter estimates by Project/Opportunity, Customer, Project Type, Status, Date Created, and Expiration Date.
- Role based filters such as Project Manager, Estimator, Sales Rep, and Created By allow you to pinpoint estimates tied to specific team members.
- Record Status filtering helps you quickly isolate Active, Archived, or other status categories.
Attachment Indicator: A small enhancement has been made to the items table within the Estimates Module, aimed at improving user experience and efficiency. Now, when a user adds attachments to an item, a paperclip icon will appear next to that item in the table. This visual cue is designed to help users quickly and easily identify whether an attachment is associated with an item, without needing to open each item individually.
Associated Project Popup: Creating estimates for customers with multiple active projects is now more efficient with a new customization option for project-assignment prompts. Users previously experienced repeated interruptions when the system alerted them about existing projects linked to a customer. This enhancement gives users full control over if that prompt appears.
Importing From CSV: The existing function of “Export Items to CSV” will remain in place and continue to allow users to download a CSV export of their estimate items, ensuring that they can easily access and manage their data. However, now a similar feature has been added that is more user-friendly, especially designed for our newer users who may be less familiar with the process. These users will now find an additional button labeled “Download Import Template,” which will export a blank CSV file complete with headers. This new feature aims to simplify the process for beginners by providing them with a ready-to-use template.
List View Update: List view of the estimates dashboard has undergone an update. Specifically, its order has been edited to ensure greater similarity to other modules. This change is aimed at creating a more cohesive and intuitive experience for users as they navigate through different sections of the platform.
🛠 Miscellaneous Changes
Terms Source Selection in Invoices: Users can now quickly and easily fetch a customer’s Invoice Terms directly from the customer record while preparing their invoice. This new feature ensures that when a user enters custom terms in the Directory Listing for a customer, those terms will be automatically fetched and seamlessly imported into the Terms field by default. This streamlines the process and reduces the need for manual entry. Additionally, users have the flexibility to quickly swap between the customer’s default terms and the system default terms using the convenient dropdown menu. This makes it easier than ever to manage and customize invoice terms to suit specific needs.
Generate RFI’s from Change Orders: Managing project changes just became faster, clearer, and more efficient. With this new enhancement, users can now generate Change Orders (COs) and Change Order Requests (CORs) directly from any Request for Information (RFI), streamlining the process of capturing and documenting cost impacts tied to project clarifications.
Schedule a Call: Another perk for our Unlimited users! You can now schedule a call with a team member through phone support if needed. To access this feature you must be on the Unlimited Plan. You can book your call through our Training page.
⚠️ Depreciation Notices
Quickbooks Desktop: Effective January 1, 2026, Contractor Foreman will cease sending or receiving data to any version of QuickBooks Desktop. Please use the upcoming months to prepare for this change. Over the years, Contractor Foreman has been one of the few services to support QuickBooks Desktop, and after careful consideration, we have decided to discontinue this service due to Intuit sunsetting support for many Desktop applications and our limited user base connected to Desktop editions of QB.

Discontinuing QuickBooks Desktop integration has enabled us to develop the highly requested integration with Xero and enhance our support and service for QuickBooks Online.
Classic View of Estimates and Invoices: The Classic View of these two modules will be deprecated at the start of the year. This will allow our teams to focus on improving the Updated versions of these modules further so we can bring you even more amazing features and improvements.
Reports: Custom Reports will officially phase out the old UI in early 2026. Please recreate your old Custom Reports within the New Builder before January 1st. If any fields you previously used are missing, please reach out to support and request they be added.

Change Orders
Our biggest update this quarter belongs to this popular module! We’re thrilled to announce that the long-awaited change—“Change orders should work the same as estimates”—is finally complete! After months of work, we’re excited to share these enhancements:
- Item Sections are now available within the module and can be imported into others.
- New Dynamic Assigned-To Fields have been added! Your Project’s Estimator and Project Manager can now be populated within the Change Order, along with a blank “Other” assignee for any additional role you may want to include.
- Item Variations have been enabled in the module’s Item details.
- Multi-select and Delete options have been added for quick removal of unwanted items.
- Import from CO/COR or Template has been modified to clearly indicate the record type being imported.
- The SOV will now display Change Orders in Sections as well.
️Chat
Users can now type freely within the chat feature! The typing field allows for more lines of text and can expand as needed. Say goodbye to typos!
Files and Photos
Users can now easily move and copy files and photos from the Action Items menu (the three-dot button). In the list and timeline view, simply click the file name to open the item quickly.
Purchase Orders
The SKU field has been activated in the Item Details. When you bring an item in from another location, it will now carry over into your Purchase Order automatically.
Schedule
The schedule module has been updated with new code, resulting in improved performance and stability. Additionally:
- Users will now see their Baseline and Actual labels accurately reflected in the details pop-up. Don’t worry; this change only affects the labels, not the function or data within.
- You can generate reports on Baseline and Actual data to easily assess your adherence to the schedule.
- Assigned To selections have also been improved for enhanced usability.
✅ To-Do’s
When marking a To-Do as Private, you will now see a clarification that Private To-Do’s are confidential to you AND the individuals you assigned them to. This small change ensures users are aware of who can view the data they input.
️ Inspections
Following last quarter’s UI update, we are working on usability enhancements for this module that will continue into the next release. For this quarter, you can now add a Due Date and Completed Date to an Assigned Inspection task, paving the way for additional Checklist-specific changes in the future.
Estimates
You can now edit the Percentage Markup field directly from the Item list view, eliminating the need to enter the Item details pop-up unless you prefer to apply a dollar amount.
Invoices
A scroll-to-top arrow has been added to the Invoice Module, allowing you to quickly return to the top of a lengthy payment application.
Subcontracts
Additional filters have been introduced in the Subcontract List View, enabling you to filter records by Status and Date.
Opportunities
We have added a “Copy from Contact” button in the opportunities Address field. When empty, users can quickly add the customer’s address from their directory with just one click.
Safety Meetings
Users will find a few minor improvements in this module:
- The “Created By” tag has been fixed to accurately reflect the user who created the record, rather than the user hosting the meeting.
- An “All Safety Meetings/My Safety Meetings” quick filter toggle has been added to the list view for better navigation.
- Safety Meetings have also been included in the Contractor’s Documents section within the Directory for easy access to attended meetings.
Reports
In the new UI, we have modified the list of reportable fields to display in alphabetical order for easier scanning and selection.
RFI’s and Notices
We finalized a previous update to add a title to RFI’s and Notices and rolled the Title field out to previously missing locations, including PDF exports.
Global Change
We have implemented new icons for Templates and Records across the program, helping you quickly identify which item you are importing into a new record.
Cost Item Database
We have made additional tweaks to this recently updated module. New options have been added to the Bulk Markup feature, allowing users to quickly increase and update Markup Percentages. The
Equipment
The details pop-out has also been modified to more clearly indicate equipment usage.
️ Projects
The SOV will now display Change Orders in Sections.
Depreciation Notices
Effective January 1, 2026, Contractor Foreman will cease sending or receiving data to any version of QuickBooks Desktop.
Set up a free consultation to learn more about transitioning to QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Online Advanced. Schedule a Meeting Here.
Discontinuing QuickBooks Desktop integration has enabled us to develop the highly requested integration with Xero and enhance our support and service for QuickBooks Online.
Custom Reports will officially phase out the old UI in early 2026. Please recreate your old Custom Reports within the New Builder before January 1st. If any fields you previously used are missing, please reach out to support and request they be added.

July 3, 2025
We are pleased to announce another Quarterly update to our users! We know you have been waiting patiently for a few features, and trust me when I say so have we! Although we still have many more improvements churning in the background, we have quite a few exciting updates this quarter that we are more than thrilled to roll out to our users; let’s dive in!
User Interfaces
We know you have been waiting patiently for the Updated User Interfaces to be completed! Development has not stopped on these critical updates and will continue to be wrapped up through the remainder of the year. Users will find the following modules have been updated to the new UI as well as from their old code base to the new for enhanced stability and performance.
Purchase Orders have had their code updated and UI improved. With this update, you will find small tweaks and improvements to improve the workflow between Price Request and Purchase Order. Users will find this module to be more straightforward and easier to use than ever before.
Safety Meetings have had their code updated and the UI improved. Users will find that the UI operates mostly the same, with a cleaner look and feel. One small change is that users can now select from multiple contact types to attend their Safety Meetings.
Inspections have had their code updated and the UI improved. The module functions the same as it did before, just with the enhanced layout and easy-to-use design.
Cost Item Database has had its code updated and the UI improved. This is perhaps our favorite UI update yet! The Cost Item Database not only got its UI improved, but it also received a ton of new functionality and a couple of enhancements along the way. Check it out; we know you will love the new layout and key additions to the dashboard and the record views.
RFIs and Notices have had their code updated and the UI improved. RFIs and Notices will work mostly the same as before but in our updated UI, with the exception of the new ability to add a Title to your RFIs, and a new dashboard with curated widgets to help you stay on top of your work.
Projects have had their code updated, but no changes have been made to the UI yet. Users should find that this update has brought quicker processing and load times to the Project Module. This module will be revisited later to make enhancements to its functionality; but for now, we wanted to ensure users could get the best experience possible with faster load times while navigating their projects.
New Features
You asked, and we listened! Quite a few of our new features were customer requests this quarter. We hope you will be as excited about them as we are!
New Changelog via the Suggestions Channel Want to stay on top of our changes? We will be slowly rolling out some improvements to how we let you know what is going on! Your suggestions posts will now be linked to the new and improved release notes and changelog. You can access these features by going to your main menu, clicking on Suggestions > Once you enter our Feedback page, click on > Roadmap to see what is in development and then > Release notes to see all our latest changes. Users will also be able to access these release notes through the “What’s New” page and the post-update pop-up.
Employee Clocking Out Questions have been adjusted to make the Time Card admin’s life a little easier! We have modified the clock-out questions to prevent users with modification privileges from sending change request emails. Users will now be asked if they want to modify or clock out, and have their start and stop time displayed on the clock-out screen.
You can now make cost codes mandatory on time cards. Another feature win for our Time Card admins! This change allows you to require cost code selection on your time cards to help reduce manual entry from the office. You can find this feature within your Time Card settings under Time Card Administration.
Employees can now delete their own Time Off Requests by popular demand! Users now have the ability to delete their own requests from the directory, their My Details Page, and the dashboard widget; no need to contact the office. Users cannot cancel or delete an entry that has already been approved and the time has passed.
Estimate Report: Always show Estimator A new estimator field has been added to Estimate Reports so that you can track your estimator’s work. Descriptions have been indented in the Estimate Template so that approvers and reviewers can read the estimates easily.
Product Image in Cost Item Database Items is a key part of our CIDB update! This change is the first step necessary to be able to bring you more item-specific features in other modules such as estimates.
Apply Bulk Markup to Select Items in CIDB. Users have long been able to add bulk markup to their entire CIDB; now they can apply it to select items as well!
Ability to “Copy This Item” in CIDB. Want to make quick copies of an item for variations? Now you can!
A New Markup Equation view in Cost Item Record has been added so that users can easily see what their total price of an item is with Hidden MU and MU.
Leads and Opportunities Dashboard have been unified to look and function more similarly with matching To-Do’s and log fields, making lead and opportunity management a breeze straight from the dashboard.
Lead Forms can now be redirected to a site of your choice after submission and can now have code generated specific to lead sources you would like to track. Go to your Lead Settings to check this one out! With these changes, you can now direct your customers to a page of your choosing after submission and even track your lead sources individually.
Easily notify a technician of a service ticket at any time with a new notify button in the Service Ticket Record.
Additional options for a one-way sync with Company Cam have been added to give users more control over what projects are synced.
A New Title Field in RFIs and Notices has been added so users can now add a searchable title to their RFIs.
All this, and many other small improvements have been made over the quarter with many more to come; so stay tuned and see you again at the end of Quarter 3 with even more amazing features and improvements!

January 1, 2025
Welcome to 2025! Our teams worked hard to wrap up last year’s updates and internal changes at Contractor Foreman!
2024 has been an extremely busy year for development as we tirelessly made our way through converting our existing site’s user interface and original code infrastructure to a newer, more stable option. Perhaps the code is not the most glamorous change that we could have made to Contractor Foreman, but it will help us pave the way to easier maintenance, updates, and more reliability for our users! Our UI updates are more than just a facelift to make the software look pretty; they are an imperative task that will allow us to bring you more features, enhancements, and overall reliability.
In addition to changes within the software, behind the scenes, we have been making many changes to internal processes to help bring you a better product. These include but are not limited to:
Improving our Video Content for users!
This change will allow more self-guided learning and help users better navigate after these large updates.
- Updates are being made to existing videos and KB articles to ensure they are up to date with the new UI improvements.
- Mobile-use videos are being produced to help your field users learn how to use their app effectively.
- Post-update run-throughs are being created to help ease our users into the structure of the new UIs.
Improving our product delivery and testing workflows for an overall better product.
Through careful analysis and consideration, we have begun to implement changes to our product delivery methods that will ensure a more polished product reaches our customers. Although these changes will not be fully in effect until the new year is underway, we have already started implementing a few of them for this update. The final product our customers interact with will see the benefits of passing through two new testing environments (that are currently under development) with additional testing protocols. These will allow us to identify and address issues more effectively and give the developers more flexibility to release the finished product than we ever had before.
Now, for the “good stuff”! Our users will get to tackle 2025 with the following changes to the software;
The Latest UI Updates
The following modules were the latest to receive a facelift and a much-needed update to the code they are built on! Users may find a few functionality surprises that we sprinkled in here and there, but the modules are otherwise going to work the same as they did before, just with a cleaner look.
- Incidents
- Service Tickets
- Vehicle Logs
- Subcontracts
- Invoices (Currently available in “Beta Mode” for customers to test out!)

- Setting a Default Cover Sheet for Estimates is now possible! Users can create a cover sheet and set it as the default over the existing stock template.
- Disable SweetPay Client Financing from the estimates module on demand for residential work so you can select it on a project-by-project basis and override your default setting. Client Financing will be turned off by default for commercial projects.

Happy Labor Day weekend to our hardworking Contractor Foreman family! To celebrate our hardworking Contractors, we are happy to announce a special mid-quarter update meant to bring you a few highly anticipated features and improvements. Although this update is brief, it sure packs a punch and has some hot-ticket items our users have been patiently waiting for.
New Directory Dashboard and Record Views
The Directory module was our latest User Interface (UI) update. This module has been entirely rebuilt to make working with your contacts a breeze.
-Dashboard View: is now more intuitive, with some visual improvements we cannot wait for you to see! The new List View allows you to view and search your contacts with ease, giving you the most important info right at your fingertips. Three new comprehensive widgets allow you to see your contact counts, expiring certificates, and your employees’ upcoming days off right from the dash.
-Record Views: All your contact types have also received a much-needed facelift! You can now navigate through your contact information just as you can with projects. We have dedicated pages to easily keep your contact-specific information neatly organized and easily accessible. There are even a few new bells and whistles hidden within the pages as well!
Files and Photos
Drum roll, please… and get the fireworks ready to go, because this announcement is one worth celebrating! You asked and patiently waited as we worked to bring you some much-needed feature enhancements to Files and Photos!
-File Move: With this update, we are happy to bring you the much-anticipated ability to move or copy files between folders. With a few clicks, users can now relocate any file to a different folder within the system without having to re-upload.
-Dropbox Integration: Dropbox users can now log into Dropbox straight from Contractor Foreman, making bringing files and photos in from shared folders a breeze!
-New Markup Options: Excel and Word documents are now directly editable through the Files and Photos module. No need to download and re-upload quick edits; you can make changes easily with a few clicks of a button!
Time and Materials Invoicing
We have greatly improved our Time and Materials Invoicing capabilities. Users can now more easily bring Time Cards, Equipment logs, Expenses, Bills, Change Orders, and Purchase Orders into a T&M invoice. The new T&M experience will also allow users to make quick changes directly on the invoice, better display and sort information, add Markup, as well as submit invoices to customers with the Markup displayed. This feature has had many improvements, with more to come as we gather customer feedback!

Happy Labor Day!

July 4, 2024
Happy 4th of July! We are happy to announce our latest update to our users. We know it has been a long time coming and are excited about the many improvements that have been made system-wide. Check it out!
New Dashboards
The following dashboards have received a facelift! We still have a handful left to update, but you will now see the listed dashboards updated to include more comprehensive List Views, and handy widgets to help you easily stay on top of your data.
—Daily Logs: Keep track of the weather, delays, photos, deliveries, incidents, and inspections, and navigate your daily logs with the multi-range select Mini-Calendar.
—Invoices: Easily see your submitted invoices, what has been paid, and what has not, your sales by month, balances by projects, accounts receivable, statuses, recent payments, and invoices coming due. You can navigate and search through your invoices with the data-rich list view.
—Sub-contracts: See your subcontracts by assigned contractor, current stats, contracts by project, and unpaid contracts; easily search for an existing contract with the data-rich list view.
—Change Orders: Recent client responses are now right at your fingertips along with your CO’s still pending approval, and the COs by project. The updated list view allows you to easily view your change orders, or change order requests separately and together in the dynamic list view.
—Forms and Checklists: These are now easier to navigate by clearly showing you your recent forms and favorites as well as providing better filter options to view your used forms and templates.
—Opportunities: Keeping tabs on potential projects now extends beyond the Kan-ban with the ability to see your opportunities by month and source, new opportunities that need to be contacted, their stages, what is upcoming, and an updated list view.
—Submittals: The data-rich submittals dashboard makes it a breeze to check in on your pending replies! Easily see the submittals you have coming due, or that require your attention. Scroll through your submittals easily with the list view.
Estimates
We know how much our users rely on our estimates and are working hard to add in helpful functionalities as we plan for bigger changes ahead; we are genuinely excited about a couple of these new capabilities for our estimators:
—Mass Delete: We know you have been asking for this, and are happy to bring the option to delete more than one item at a time from a section! This is a huge improvement for our template users, and we are excited that this function will pave the way for other great improvements down the road and will continue to get better with future updates!
—Select All: Another improvement for our template use is the ability to now “Select All” when importing sections into your estimate; you no longer need to select each section individually.
—Updated Calculation Bar: The Calculations Bar at the top of your estimate has been improved. You will now see a more linear view of your estimated financials. Estimate cost, profit, subtotal, and tax have more clearly been defined, and your list view will now show the properly calculated total w/tax and the cost.
—New Merged Field Option: A new merged field has been added for estimates, so you can now merge your written estimate total into a document or email.
—Updated List View: The customer name is now a full first and last name in the dashboard list view, for ease and searchability.
Purchase Orders
Your PO’s now have two new improvements:
—Pickup Locations: Can now be selected and defined so that they display on your PO. This improvement will allow you to set a pickup location that is different from the vendor’s address if needed.
—Price Request Clarification: When a price request is created your PO PDFs will now read “Price Request”.
Daily Logs
Your daily log dashboard was updated, and a few small changes were also implemented in the record view. You will now be able to continue to navigate through your logs using the dynamic range mini-calendar, as well as “thumb” through logs by using the new navigation arrows on the top of your screen.
Service Tickets
Your service ticket module has had two improvements:
—Arrival Time Windows: You can now set a window of time for your service tickets, instead of a single time selection. The window will also display on your PDFs.
—Map View Improvement: When viewing your tickets from the map view, you can now easily jump from the pinned ticket to your record view with a new “Go to Detail” link.
Permits: Your permit record view now has the improved “Notes” function available so that you can add more thorough notes with titles, descriptions, and photos.
Directory: Customers who have multiple contacts within the record have been given more functionality. You can now select the other contacts beyond the primary one when needed for a document.
Leads: The lead capture form now has a “Company” field for your customers to add their info into.
Reports: The daily log report now includes “Departure Time”, and the custom project report has had a “Sales Rep” column added. More items will continue to be added as they are identified.
Settings: Your PDF templates have been modified to have clearer item description text, and you can now add a customer name to your purchase order templates by editing and enabling the toggle for the field.
Live Chat
Live chat has gotten more intelligent with the introduction of our new AI super bot! You can now use the live chat to get comprehensive answers to your questions with the click of a button. The new bot is powered by Chat GPT 4.0 and is constantly learning through our knowledge base, and successful support communications so that you can ask it almost anything!
Why should you give the new AI live chat a try you may ask? Because you can ask almost any technical question you want, and you will receive a comprehensive answer as you would from a human without the wait! This is GREAT for asking how-to questions and quickly finding the answer you are looking for without spending time searching the KB; the best part is, that it is available 24/7. But don’t worry – you can still chat with a real human being if you have questions that the bot cannot answer, or about your account. It is now even easier to do so with improved bypass options if needed.
Behind the Scenes
Along with the many changes you can see, there are innumerable changes happening behind the scenes that may not be apparent to our users. As the new user interfaces roll out, our site is receiving some much-needed TLC by updating the code to help maintain stability and functionality. Changes are being made to improve our development process and make our releases smoother, and more consistent. The suggestions are continuing to be moderated and improved so we can get a better feel for what our customers need, and our developers are hard at work on additional much-needed improvements to the system.
We have been diligently working on these and many other internal improvements to help bring users more features and functionality as quickly as possible. We hope to continue to roll out a few more features in the upcoming weeks that we know for certain our users will be excited about!
Happy 4th of July from your team at Contractor Foreman!
March 29, 2024
Our development team has been hard at work during the past few months working on major backend improvements that will drastically improve page load, increase easy of use, and offer a better user experience. Some of these improvements are visually obvious while others are not. As we move forward, you will see new features and improvements added more frequently. We do appreciate your continued support and we are excited to grow with you.
–New Custom Report Builder: Although this feature is still in beta, you can start benefiting from it now. To experience it, go to Reports > Create a new Custom Report > Select Module. In the upper right, click the “Custom Report Builder (Beta)” toggle. The new report tool allows you to group data in ways that was not possible in the past. Want to see a list of all PO’s grouped by Supplier and then by Project and then by Billing Status – it can do it. More functionality and resources will be added within the next update. If you previously built custom reports, please go ahead and build those out within the Beta report builder. If you experience a limitation, please contact support so that we can add the necessary functionality.
–New Reports: A couple of new stock reports have been added. Those include the Job Cost Transactions report and the PO Status report. In the near future all of our existing stock (Excel only) reports will be built within the beta report builder (mentioned above) so that you can easily modify it to meet your needs and export to Excel or view on the screen.
–Email Restriction Removed: You can now have multiple directory contacts using the same email address.
–Currency: More than 20 additional currency options have been added. If yours was missing, you can see if it was added within Settings > Financial.
–Estimate Dashboard: The Estimate dashboard has been updated to show relevant information about your Estimates so that nothing falls through the cracks. Many other improvements within the estimate record are also in the works.
–New UI: The Bills and Permits modules have received a new UI update. You will also notice other updated components throughout the system with many more on the way.
–Dashboard Stats: We’ve started caching the data that appears within the widgets on the Dashboard and on the Project Dashboard so that the page will load even faster. If you need real-time updates, click the refresh icon within the widget to refresh the widget data. We want the data to be available but we do not want you to have to wait for it to load so we will continue to improve this function as we evaluate its performance.
–Client Financing: Users on a Basic plan now have the option to offer client financing within their Estimates. This feature can be managed within Settings > Integration.
–Work Order Notifications: A new notification has been added to Settings > Notifications that will be sent to the Assigned contact letting them know about the details of the Work Order.
–Time Card Custom Fields: Custom fields are great as they allow you to collect extra information. Within Time Card > Settings, you can now specify which fields your team members must complete during clock-in, during clock-out, or optionally during the day. By default, the Custom Fields block will be minimize if there are no defined custom fields.
–Login Process: We have improved the login process to make it super easy for your team members to sign into their account. Please make sure each User has an email and/or phone number associated with their Directory listing. This allows them to receive a login link (email) or a one-time code (cell) if they forgot their password. Resetting the password is still an option.
–User Suggestions: Your suggestions are great – keep them coming! We have made improvements internally that will increase the amount of engagement and status updates you see as an item moves from being a Suggestion > Planned > In Development > Completed. Thank you for the great input.
–Bid Invite Open Notification: If a Bid Package invite that you sent to a contractor/vendor is opened, you will receive an email opened notification. This can be configured within Settings > Notifications > Estimate.
–Select a Project: The project selection option in the top left corner has been improved to provide additional useful data about the project.
November 8, 2023
–Project Templates: Templates of any kind are a huge time saver. We now allow you to save a Project as a Template (Project > Details > Project Configuration). When creating a new Project, you will now see the option to “Use Project Template”. This allows you to choose to copy over the Estimate, Forms, Configuration, Schedule, Files, Invoices, Contacts, SOV, Folders, Permits, PO’s and To Do’s.
–Price Difference Notification: If the item added to an Estimate is different than the price of the item within the Cost Items Database, a flag will appear alerting you of the difference so that you can adjust if needed.
–Client Notifications: If a message is sent from the client within the Client Portal or sent by the Project Manager to the client, an email notification will be sent if the message has not been read within five minutes.
–Estimate Opened Notification: When you submit an Estimate to your client, hovering over the newly added mail icon will show the submitted date/time. Once your client opens the Estimate, it will show the date they opened it. This helps you know if they have reviewed it or may have missed it.
–T&M Attachments: When you add a Time & Material item to an Invoice, you will now have the option to check an “Include Attachments” checkbox. If checked, the attachments associated with the record (such as a picture of a receipt associated with an Expense or a scanned copy of a Bill) will be copied into the Invoice. Additional T&M improvements are coming very soon including the ability to markup individual items and grouping labor by employee/date/cost code.
–Auto-Save Images: If enabled within Settings > Default, images taken using the Camera feature within Contractor Foreman will also be saved to the device used to take the photo. This is great for having a backup.
–SOV Items: Schedule of Values items that have been invoiced at 100% can now be added to the invoice. This is great for helping your customer see what they have already paid for and what remains.
–Project Calendar & Schedule: New permissions have been added within ‘Settings > Roles’ for each of these tabs within the Project module. This allows you to restrict your users from accessing the ‘Menu > Schedule’ or ‘Menu > Calendar’ while still allowing them to see the data from within the Project they are allowed to work within.
–Multiple Contacts Per Email: You can now associate the same email address to multiple directory contacts. This is great for situations where a customer has multiple locations but they use the same email.
–Project Address: When your crew clocks into a Project, they will also be able to see the project address and open a map without the need to get it from the Directory.
–Directory Filter: A filter has been added that allows you to search for contacts based on the Scope of Services provided. Easily see a list of all companies in your directory that provide Drywall and Painting service.
–Contact Websites: The URL field within a contacts Directory listing is now a clickable link.
–Safety Meetings: Any safety meetings associated with the same day and project will now appear within a Daily Log.
–New Currency Options: Many new currency options have been added. Settings > Financial Settings.

New Project UI: The whole module has been overhauled with so many tweaks and improvements that you will have to see it yourself. Deleting Folders: If a custom folder has mistakenly been created and there are no files within it, it can now be deleted.
Tax Rates: In addition to being able to define a default tax rate, you can now associate a default tax rate at the Customer level and at the Project level – further reducing the need to look up the appropriate rate.

Directory Permissions: New Permissions allow you to give someone access to the directory without them being able to make changes to a users account.
Directory: Forms associated with a contact will now appear in the Document tab of a contacts record.
Client Access: You can now save your Client Access preferences as Default Settings so that they do not have to be configured for each project. This can be done within Project > Client Access or Project > Settings.

Change Order Notifications: Two new options have been added for client-submitted CO’s and one for approved CO’s.
To Do’s Deadline: In addition to setting a Date, a Time can also be assigned.

January 2, 2023
Our first update of the year is out… and many more exciting changes are on the way. We are committed to improving Contactor Foreman so that it is even easier to use. Within the next few months we will release a major update to the Projects module. We will do the same with other modules throughout the year as we continue to take what we have built and make it even easier to use while at the same time, adding new functions that will help you work smarter. We appreciate you recommending Contractor Foreman to other contractors and we look forward to growing with you.
— Project Reports: Onscreen reports have finally arrived within Project > Reports. Now you can drill down to see the data that matters to you and see the transactions that make up the numbers. Additionally, you can change how the values are calculated in real-time without having to download a file each time.
— CompanyCam: Contractor Foreman now includes CompanyCam as one of the integration options. This option is available with the Plus, Pro, and Unlimited plans and allows you to instantly sync photos taken with CompanyCam directly into the project within Contractor Foreman. View details in the KB
— Notification Manager: You can now edit the text that is sent for all text, email, and push notifications. This includes Service Ticket reminders, Bid Invites, Estimates, etc. Review the options and make sure you are getting the notifications you want and turn off the ones you do not want. This paves the way for custom notifications. Settings > Notifications.
— Crew Schedule Enhancement: This will now show Schedule, Work Orders, and Service Tickets that are assigned to an employee. This eliminates the need for duplicating assigned tasks and helps prevent an employee from being assigned to two tasks at the same time.
— PDF Header Text: You can now change the text color that appears in the header row of the PDF’s as well as the online invoices/estimate/RFI/Submittal, etc. Changing the text color and background color is a great way to make your PDF’s match your existing branding.
— Equipment Time Cards: You can now create an Equipment Time Card within the Daily Log. In the next update, the Equipment hourly rate will be used to properly impact job costing. Daily Log > Equipment > Equipment Used.
— Equipment Items: A Default Operator can be assigned to a piece of equipment so that when an Equipment Time Card is added to a Daily Log, the value is already assigned. Settings > Cost Items > Equipment.
— Assigned Projects: Now you can define who should be able to access a project from within the project. If Directory > Employee > Assigned Project is selected and “+ Associated Project” is checked, any employee who is added to the Project > Contact page will be allowed to see the Project. No longer do you need to do this individually for each employee for each project.
— Bid Manager UI: The Bid Manager received a much needed UI improvement. These changes will help you better stay on track of recent submissions, responses, and deadlines.
— Copy Crew Sheet: You can now copy the previous crew sheet to the current day. Great for days when the same people worked the same hours doing the same tasks.
— Customer Contact Info: A contact info popup has been added that allows you to click on the icon beside the customers name and see their basic contact details. Sure beats going back to the directory to view it.
— Deleting Bills: If a Bill (that is linked to a PO) is deleted, the Billed about on the PO is reverted to the correct value.
— Unwanted Widgets: Widgets that are not wanted on the home screen (such as weather, clock-in, etc can now be removed). Dashboard > Customize.
— Project Filters: You can now filter by Sales Rep and Project Manager.
— Time Off Request: An End Time field has been added to the already existing End Date field.
— Default Terms: When a Bill is created and associated with a Vendor/Contractor, the Terms assigned to the contact will be automatically selected within the Bill. Saving you an extra click or a mistake.
— Sent Emails: Emails sent to a directory contact will now appear within their directory record > History > Email.
— Estimate to Invoice: When an Invoice is created from an Estimate, the Estimate > Bill To value will now transfer to the Invoice.
— Estimate Export: The Description and Internal Note can now be exported and imported.
— Suggest a New Feature: The previous icon was replaced with a light bulb icon. When you have a bright idea, share it with us.
— Numbering: Numbers throughout the system now use commas in the thousand place. Making it easier for you and your customer.
— New Currencies: New currencies have been added for the Tanzanian Shilling, Ugandan Shilling, and Russian Ruble.
— Employee Write-Up’s: These will now appear within the Employees directory record under Incidents.
October 6, 2022
— Reload & Clear Cache: Go ahead and test it now! If Contractor Foreman is ever acting wonky, click on your profile icon in the top right of the screen and click Reload & Clear Cache. This will resolve most browser issues.
— Back Button: We should not have waited as long as we did, but you can now use the Back button in your browser to go back to the previous record or page that you were viewing.
— Toolbar: A fixed toolbar has been added to the bottom of the screen. The left contains dedicated buttons for chat and the right contains shortcuts that were previously at the top.
— Files & Photos: Significant improvements have been made to this module. We’ve made it easier to create new Project folders, sub folders, bulk delete items, and upload items.
— New Dashboards: The Inspections, Purchase Orders, Bills, Permits, and Payments dashboards have been updated to the new UI. It’s a slow process but you will continue to see new improvements with each update.
— Progress Invoicing: When progress invoicing, you now have the choice of entering a $ or % amount.
— Schedule of Values: In addition to showing you the Amount Billed and the Total, we now show the Amount Remaining.
— Wage Rates: Wage Rates are now their own Permission in Roles. This allows you to give Users access to the Directory > Employee section while keeping the pay rates hidden.
— Sub-Contract Partial Billing: An enhancement has been added making it even easier to set the amount of each Sub Contract item being added to a Bill.
— Geofence: You can now enable geofence for clocking out to ensure that your employees were on site when they clocked out and not already at home. Additionally, you can set a default radius and the maximum has also been increased.
— Crew Card Creator: When permission is granted, you can allow your admins (or others) to create a Crew Card and assign another team member as the Supervisor.
— Notes & Description: Each item (in an Items table) now has an Internal Note and Description field. As the item moves from one module to another (Estimate > Bid > PO > Bill, etc), the two notes transfer with it.
— Estimate Section: You can now mark a Section as Optional. We have also changed the color of the Optional text so that it is more noticeable for you and your client.
— Purchase Orders: A description field has been added to serve as a reminder of the purpose for the material being purchased.
— Calendar Reminders: You can schedule a reminder to be emailed to the assigned contact prior to the meeting time.
— Change Orders: The same Bulk Markup tool that exists in Estimates now exists in Change Orders. Additionally, you can import items from an Estimate or from a CSV file into a CO.
— Crew Sheets: You can now record injuries for each individual on the Crew Sheet. Doing so will automatically create an Incident entry.
— Payment Terms: A new option for NET 45 has been added to the Financial Settings. Additionally, you can define the default terms per Customer and Vendor (and soon Contractor).
— Tax Rates: When you associate a Customer to a tax rate, that rate is automatically pulled into the Project and into any Invoices that are created against the Project. This can be revised per Project.
— Gantt Chart View: The order of the projects listed in the Gantt Chart is now based on Start Date.
— Cost Code Order: You can now change the cost codes to appear within the Time Card dropdown based on Code Name or Code #.
— Additional Contacts: The Phone number is no longer a required field.
— Taxable Customers: A Taxable field now exists in the customers directory record. This will sync if connected to QBO or QBD.
— Expense Tax Rate: If you are a QBO AUS user, you will now see a Tax field on the Expenses.
— Action Icons: We’ve added action icons in more places where you see a contacts record: making it easier to send them a text, email, or call.
— AIA Export: The AIA file can now be exported in Excel and as a PDF for added security and convenience.
— Expense Account: Within your User Settings, you can now define a Default Expense Account so that you are not constantly selecting the same value each time you create an Expense.
— There were dozens of other smaller new features added. Keep up and view a list of all features that were not mentioned here by reviewing the Completed items in our User Feedback page here.
August 4, 2022
— Ongoing UI Changes: We are committed to improving your experience with Contractor Foreman and each month we will make improvements to the look and feel of the system. Whether you use a couple modules or use them all, we want your experience to be good enough that you would recommend us to someone else. We will start off by redesigning the header and menu. To keep the header clean, we will also be adding a short footer to the bottom of the page functions such as; Team Chat, Recent History, Notifications, etc. We will then revise the dashboard (the page you first land on when you go to a module) for each module and optimizing the view based on how the information is needed and used. Once that is completed, we will then improve the record view of each module. Significant improvements will be made to the Estimate module and to the items table across all modules. Along the way we will continue to look for ways to enhance the existing functions while also adding new features to improve the functionality. We are committed to making Contractor Foreman a tool that meets the needs of most contractors at a price that all can afford. If there is an improvement you would like for us to make, be sure to suggest it in Make a Suggestion. If it is already suggested by someone else, be sure to vote on it.
— New Dashboard: The Invoice, Leads, and Files & Photos dashboard have been redesigned to provide you with better insights and improving functionality.
— How To’s: When you click on the video icon in the top right of each module, you will now see a new popup that contains the video showing how to use the feature as well as a list of How To’s associated with it. During the next two weeks we will be adding an additional 300+ topics to help you more quickly find solutions to your questions.
— Schedule (Gantt): Multiple changes have been made to the Schedule. Opening the schedule will now automatically scroll to the current date. More space will also be given to the task name. Additionally, you can now change the color for each task. We also changed the opacity to make it easier to distinguish the difference between completed and incomplete tasks.
— Sub-Contract Partial Billing: When viewing a Sub-Contract, you can click on Action > Generate a Bill and set the $ or % amount that is to be billed. This allows you to create multiple Bills against a single Sub-Contract. Additional improvements will be made in the next update.
— Daily Logs & Equipment: If an Equipment Log is created on the same day as the Daily Log and for the same project, the log entry and details will now appear within the Daily Log. This improvement will be followed by the addition of Equipment Time Cards.
— Document Writer: Full-page images created in Canva or other systems can now be used to create amazing looking Estimate proposals. Watch the video here.
— Cost Items Popup: When a tablet is used (providing extra space), the Vendor name will appear along with the Item name.
— Profile Image: The user profile image shown in the Directory and in My Profile now appears in the upper right corner of the page. Add a photo to personalize your experience.
— Item Variations: Last month we made the change that allows Variations in an Estimate carry over to the Schedule of Values. With todays update, we now carry it over to the Invoice as well.
— Reset Password: If your employee does not have an email address associated with his user account and he needs to reset his password, the reset link will now be sent to the Cell phone number within his record.
— Project Financial Records: We’ve increased the number of records that show by default while viewing this page.
July 7, 2022
— New Dashboards: We continue to improve the UI by providing more stats and information so that you can always be informed. This month we released a new dashboard for the Incidents, Safety Meetings, Vehicle Logs, and Equipment Logs module.
— Invoice Kanban: New columns have been added to the Kanban view to represent days late. 1-30, 31-60, 61-90, 90+.
— Safety Meetings: In addition to the new dashboard, you can now create Individual and Future meetings as well as flag meetings as In Process or Completed. You can also assign a Student permission to a user which allows them to conduct an Individual meeting using a topic you’ve assigned but they cannot change the topic.
— Google Drive: The Add Attachment function now includes the ability to attach files from Google Drive. Next month we hope to include support for Dropbox and OneDrive.
— Cost Items in App: You can now add and modify items in the Cost Items Database from the app.
— Clock into a Service Ticket: We’ve made it even easier to clock into a Service Ticket from the ticket itself. No more changing screens to clock in.
— Contractor Users: If you have Contractor users that create time cards, you can now assign a default cost code to the contractor within their directory record (further reducing the chance of them selecting the wrong code).
— Pricing Summary: All item tables throughout the system now include a financial summary below it to quickly see the Subtotal, Tax, Total, and other items such as retainage and discounts.

— Job Costing Reports: We have several improvements on the way and this month we are releasing an improved version of the Budget vs Actual report.

— Website Field: A website field has been added to the Contractor and Vendor directory records.
— Email Field: The email field within the contacts record now includes the email address (great for copy/paste) as well as an email icon for initiating an email.
— Dollar Amount Search: We’ve added the ability to search for records based on the dollar amount. (You are not required to type the currency symbol/name.)
— Lead Stages: No longer are you stuck with the default values. You can archive unwanted stages and create your own. (Lead > Settings > Custom)
— Document Writer: A how to video has been posted to the module showing how to use the feature. An additional video will be posted soon.
And too many other improvements to list – but updates we know you will appreciate.
Onward and upward!
June 2, 2022
This months update does not include as many ‘items’ as in the past, but there were many significant improvements made under the hood as well as many in the works that will be part of the July update. We have some exciting Estimating and Sub-Contractor improvements in the works and we look forward to showing those with you very soon.
— Time Card Update: The Time Card dashboard within the panel has been greatly improved. Those with access will see a map that shows the current location of a clocked in employee. The map is updated with each page refresh (as we do not consistently track real-time location). If an employee is on break, we show the location based on where they were when they started the break. The location is not tracked during the break. Within the employee time card we’ve added a map and markers to make it easier to see where the employee has been. The Time Card dashboard also shows stats, a list of who is clocked in, and other useful information. Those who do not have proper access are shown a different view that only shows their time card details. Additionally, we’ve improved the time card list view making it even easier to find and manage time cards.
— Directory (Apps): It’s easier then ever to import contacts into the directory. Now you can import them in bulk from your phone.
— Favorites: Save time by marking up to 4 modules as a favorite by clicking the star icon in the menu.
— Vehicle & Equipment Logs: These can now be archived from the dropdown menu.
— Lead States: Unwanted Lead Stages can now be archived from Leads > Settings > Custom.
— My To Do’s: A toggle has been added within the To Do module to allow you to easily filter to see only your items.
— Disabled Modules: If a module has been disabled by you or your admin or based on the plan selected, the empty record table will no longer appear in Project > Documents & Financial.
— Opportunities: You can now filter Opportunities by Assigned To.
— Reports: The Budget vs Labor report now include % Used and % Spent columns.
And too many other improvements to list – but updates we know you will appreciate.
May 5, 2022
— New Widgets: New widgets (such as My Day and My Hours) have been added to the dashboard.
— Speed Improvements: We’ve made speed optimizations and have more coming in the June update.
— Schedule (App): The Gantt Schedule now has a calendar view making it easier to visualize what is taking place and when.
— Daily Reports: Logs are based on dates, so it only makes sense to offer a calendar view to easily find the log you are looking for instead of scrolling a long list.
— Crew Card Additions: You can now add a new employee to an already running Crew Card.
— Default Cost Code: A default cost code can now be assigned to your employee (in their Directory record) saving them one extra step when clocking in and preventing them from possibly selecting the wrong value. Great for those who perform the same task/cost code each shift.
— Paste Images: Images can now be pasted into the team chat instead of having to save it and attach it. This function will be expanded to other areas within the system.
— New Overtime Rules: A new “Mixed” option has been added in Time Card > Settings that allow you to configure Overtime based on Daily and Weekly limits.

— Widget Permissions: Widgets are now available/unavailable based on the users permission as well as the feature being enabled/disabled.
— Estimate: When the Estimate is set as Completed, you will be asked if you want to change the Project status to Completed.
— Work Orders: Multiple people can now be assigned to a Work Order.

— Time Card Deletion: Those who have been given permission to delete time cards can now do so within the app (in addition to the panel).
— Invoice Reports: Invoices with the status of Draft or On Hold no longer show in the aging reports.
— Project Notes: A new notes field has been created in Project > Notes similar to what existed in the Opportunity record.
— Number Formatting (App): Proper formatting has been added using comma’s to help make larger numbers easier to read.
— Sales Activities (App): Customer and Lead sales activities are now visible and can be added from the app.
— Bill Credit: When recording a credit on a Bill, a new note field has been added allowing you to record details about the credit.

Your team at Contractor Foreman is committed to building a better product that you will enjoy using and can grow into (instead of out of). The list of “new features” is short this month as our focus has been on improving the web panel user interface. As we go through each month, you will consistently see improvements starting with the dashboard. We will work our way through each module. Too often you see software providers hold back on UI updates and then they release it once finished. At that point they are less interested in making major changes as they need to move to the next feature. We could have taken the same approach but we value your opinion too much to do that. We want to make improvements that are beneficial to you and not just self-serving to us. If we take a step in the wrong direction, call us out on it. For those of you who have been with us for some time, you know that we value your feedback (good or bad). For those of you that are new, you joined us at a great time. It has always been our goal to provide a great product backed by great service and affordable to all. Thank you for growing with us and being part of something awesome. -Steven Gabbard, Founder
— Enable/Disable Features: Are there features in your account that you and your team do not need (currently)? Don’t let them cause a distraction – hide them. Settings > Enable/Disable Features.
— Calendar Display Options: We’ve added additional types of items that are able to appear on the calendar to help ensure that nothing is missed. From Bills to Permits and Licenses to Warranties, it is all there.

— Estimate View: A new setting has been added that allows you to set the default view to expanded (default) or collapsed.
— Kanban View: An updated kanban has been added which allows you to collapse columns instead of hiding them completely. Additional improvements are coming including adding more content to the kanban and list view (and a new table view).
— PDF Markups: The annotation tool has been updated to improve performance and stability.
— Knowledge Base: We created a new KB website and over the next couple of months, we will be filling it with more than 500 of the most common questions to help ensure that you always have multiple ways to get an answer to your questions, fast. Menu > Support.
